Mary Arlene Owen (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Mary Arlene Owen, age 84, of Bolivar, Missouri, passed away Saturday morning, May 27, 2017, at Citizens Memorial Healthcare Facility, in Bolivar.
She was born August 22, 1932 in Mt. Vernon, MO, the daughter of Arlie and Lora Holmes. She graduated from Mt. Vernon High School, attended Southwest Missouri State College then graduated from Graff Vocational School of Nursing. She worked at Bolivar Family Care for Drs.: McCraw. Koon and Kahler. Dr. Clayton in Springfield and Bolivar Nursing Home. Later she worked for Dr. Monte Kahler for several years. Mary worked as a hostess on a Motor Coach for a number of years. She was Past Presidents of: Twenty Club, PEO, Bolivar PT A, CWF at First Christian Church and Bolivar Ladies Golf Association. She loved being with family and friends, playing bridge, golf, sewing and knitting. She was an active member of the First Christian Church and served as a Diaconate.
She is survived by: two sons, Scott Bullard, Springfield, MO, and Gregg Killingsworth, Joplin, MO; three grandsons, Jeff Bullard, California, Jason Bullard, Arizona, and Ryan Bullard, Springfield, MO; one great-granddaughter, Madeline Bullard, Arizona; a sister-in-law, Janice Marsh, and husband Byron, EI Paso, Texas; four nephews, Rick Davidson, Nixa, Reggie Davidson and wife Tammy, Springfield, Kenny Holmes and wife Judy, California, Mike Marsh and wife Cyndy, Texas; four nieces, Barbara Holmes, Robin Tamori, Teresa Zaste and husband Robert, all of California, and Michelle McParland and husband Joe, Massachusetts; and several great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arlie and Lora Holmes; a sister Jean Inman, and husband Lowell; a brother Robert [Bob] Holmes; sister-in-law Peg Holmes; three husbands Jimmie Bullard, Jack Killingsworth and John Owen; and one son, Steve Bullard.
Graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the Greenwood Cemetery, with Rev. Bill Nichols officiating. Burial is under the care and direction of Butler Funeral Home, Bolivar.
