Mary P. Higgins (Camdenton)'s Obituary
Mary Patricia “Pat” Higgins, daughter of William T. and Katharine P. Owens Higgins, was born November 4, 1930 in Macomb, Illinois. She departed this life Monday, July 26, 2010, in her home, Sunrise Beach, Missouri at the age of seventy-nine years, eight months and twenty-two days.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Margaret A. Haag.
Survivors include her brother, William T. Higgins, Jr. and wife Margaret of Bluffton, South Carolina; five nieces and nephews, Elizabeth O’Day of Hallsville, Missouri, Katharine Haag of Tacoma, Washington, Richard G. Haag, Jr. of Lusby, Maryland, Patricia Preshur of St. Petersburg, Florida and Susan Higgins-Adell of Lewiston, Maine; fifteen grand-nieces and nephews and other relatives and many friends.
Pat was raised in Macomb, Illinois and graduated from High School there. She received a bachelor’s degree from Webster College in St. Louis and went on to earn a doctorate degree from Washington University. Her career spanned more than thirty years as an educator. She taught liberal arts and social science and was chair of the social studies department in the Pattonville School District, St. Louis. She retired in the early 1980’s and moved to the Lake of the Ozarks.
In retirement, Pat enjoyed reading, boating and watching sports of all kinds.
Pat was a loving sister and aunt and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends.
