Mary Pearson's Obituary
Mary Adeline Simpson Pearson, daughter of William Issac and Laura Belle Wrinkle Simpson, was born April 30, 1920, near Orla, Missouri. She departed this life Wednesday, October 8, 2008, in Christian Health Care South, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight years, five months, and eight days. On February 25, 1961, she was united in marriage to Stanley Albert Pearson, and together they shared forty-five years before his passing on August 5, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers and their wives, John and Nadine Simpson, Otto and Grace Simpson, and Owen and Lucille Simpson; two sisters and their husbands, Myrtle Simpson and Oris Hamilton, and Josephine Simpson and Ray Stanton; a brother-in-law, George Bond; and a nephew, Jim Simpson. Mary is survived by a sister, Chloe Simpson Bond, of Richland, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in the Orla community, near Lebanon, Missouri. She began working at the Lenz Motor Home and then was a sales lady at Perry’s Firestone Store in Lebanon, eventually taking over the bookkeeper’s position. In 1952, she moved to Kansas City, Missouri, and transferred to the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company. After she and Stanley were married, they made their home in Kansas City, and Mary worked part time at Macy’s for a few years. Later, she helped her husband in operating their business, Machine Engraving Company, from 1953 until 1988. In the last few years, she had made her home in Lebanon. Mary made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was a member of Englewood Baptist Church in Kansas City. Since returning to Lebanon she had attended First Baptist Church. In her spare time she enjoyed being outdoors and liked to do simple landscaping jobs. She was a wonderful cook and was well known for her dinner and cinnamon rolls, and exceptional peanut brittle. She was a perfectionist at everything she did and was an excellent seamstress. She was always interested in people and liked to keep in touch with family and friends. She was also a storehouse of family lore and facts. Mary was a loving sister and aunt, and was a kind and caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be at 2:00 pm Sunday October 12, 2008 at the Holman- Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri. Burial will be in Mt. Rose Memorial Park.
