Mary Lou Ragsdale (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Mary Lou Davis Ragsdale, daughter of Loren and Sina Davis was born near Fair Play in Polk County, Missouri on February 24, 1948. She departed this life at Stockton Nursing Home after a short illness on January 17, 2023.
Born and raised on the family farm near Fair Play, Mary Lou, was saved at an early age. She joined the Bismont Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized by brother Curtis Howard.
Mary Lou attended Fair Play Public School graduating in the spring of 1966. After her graduation she married Jim Vest and to this union two daughters, Bonnie and Stephanie, were born.
In 1975, Mary Lou married John Ragsdale to this union a son, Johnnie, was born.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her two brothers, Bernard and Eldon, and her two sisters, Martha Sue and Lenora Mae as well as her father and mother.
Mary Lou loved in depth conversations with Bonnie, Johnnie, and Stephanie. As they enjoyed sitting on the porch sharing family history and mutual reading materials. She took solace in her son-in-law, Ted Rovenstine and daughter's greenhouse as she enjoyed the plants with a passion. Stephanie has been an incredible care-giver to her mother.
Mary Lou is survived by three grandchildren, Devon Rovenstine, Ashley Gigante, and Tiffani King; one sister, Wilma Mead and one brother, George Davis; her three children, Bonnie, Stephanie, and Johnnie who meant the world to her; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary Lou was looking forward to going home to her Lord. Services for Mary will be held, 10:00 AM Sunday January 22, 2023 at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, MO. Visitation will be 1:00 PM ~ 3:00 PM Saturday, January 21, 2022 at the funeral Home. Burial will take place in the Shady Gove Cemetery near Aldrich, MO.
