Mary Hazel Reynolds (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Mary Reynolds, 95, left this world from her home in Bolivar to join her husband and daughter in heaven August 30, 2018.
She was born December 9, 1922 in Tightwad, MO to Charles Ray Johnson and Mary Etta Smith, who raised 4 daughters.
She attended teachers’ college in Warrensburg and received a teaching certificate. She taught in a one-room school in rural MO and later as an assistant in a special education classroom in Deepwater. She also worked in a KC air plane plant during the war as a riveter.
She was an active member of the Christian Church and loved teaching Vacation Bible School and Sunday School.
Mary and Eugene Reynolds were married March 10, 1945 and they raised 3 children.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rita June (16 years old) and her husband of 57 years.
Mary is survived by her sons, Walter Reynolds and wife, Nina, of Clewiston, FL and David Reynolds and wife, Janice, of Springfield, MO; six grandchildren: Joanna Daniels, Keith Reynolds, Jason Reynolds, Megan Kilmer, Jared Reynolds, and Julie Dickey, and by 7 great grandchildren: Tristan Daniels, Kara Lynn Duncan, Austin Reynolds, Evan Kilmer, Brody, Landan, and Gavin Reynolds, and one great-great grandson, Dyson Duncan.
A celebration of her life will be held at the First Christian Church in Bolivar on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, with visitation at 9:30; service at 10:30 and burial in Englewood Cemetary in Clinton, MO, where she will be buried next to her husband and daughter. Her strength was her faith and her family.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mary’s name to the First Christian Church in Bolivar.
