Mary Sue Rucker (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Mary Sue Rucker, daughter of the late Freeman and Oma (Clemmons) Slavens, was born on July 29, 1937 in Ira, MO. She departed this life on August 3, 2023 at the Colonial Springs Care Center in Buffalo, MO where she had received loving and attentive care for the past four years. At the time of her passing she was 86 years and four days of age.
Mary attended school in Macks Creek. She was united in marriage to Estel “Pete” Rucker on July 19, 1954 and to this union two children were born, both of whom survive her. Mary was a School Bus Driver for Skyline Schools for over 20 years. She enjoyed sewing, singing, and going to Church. She was baptized at young age and loved her Lord and Savior.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Pete; her parents; one sister, Juanita Williams; two brothers, John D. and Gary Slavens; one sister-in-law, Adra Lorene Slavens; and one son-in-law, Roger Hilbrenner. She is survived by her son, Monte Rucker & fiancé Rebekah Berry of Tunas, MO; her daughter, Vicky Hilbrenner of Urbana, MO; one sister, Betty Swanigan of Marshall, MO; two grandchildren, Chessa & husband Brad Nyberg of Kansas City, MO and Sam Eidson of Urbana, MO; and two great-grandchildren. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, other family members, and many friends who will all truly miss her.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 in the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home with Bro. Brad Duff officiating. Escorts will be Andy Glor, Larry Vaughn, Mark Zimmerman, Dale Zimmerman, Clif Smith, and Daryl Mayberry. Honorary escorts will be Gary Berry, Bill Berry, Sam Eidson, and Brad Nyberg. Interment will be in the AB Cemetery under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at the Funeral Home.
