Mary Spencer's Obituary
Mary Helen Spencer, daughter of Christopher John and Margaret Marie (Farrell) Kapouralos was born October 17, 1919 in Warren, Ohio. She departed this life Tuesday, February 1, 2011 in St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Missouri at the age of ninety-one years, three months and fifteen days.
On May 13, 1944, Mary was united in marriage to Harold Arthur Spencer and to this union one daughter was born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harold on January 26, 1974; a brother, John Christopher Kapouralos; and a sister, Catherine Marie Berzin.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Mary Helen Chafin of Willow Springs, Missouri; a brother, Harry Farrell Kapouralos, of Courtland, Ohio; a step-grandson, Philip Chafin and his wife Gayla, of Willow Springs, Missouri; three great-grandchildren, Cory, Cole, and Chloe Chafin; two nephews, Ben Berzin, Jr. and Mark Kapouralos; and four nieces, Cathy Berzin, Diana Gilliatt, Betty Berzin, and Barbara Frischman; and other relatives and many friends.
Mary was born and grew up in Warren, Ohio and following her marriage to Harold, they moved to California where she worked as a Quality Control Inspector for Packard-Bell Manufacturers for several years. After Harold’s death in 1974, she returned to Ohio in 1980 and then moved to Poplar Bluff, Missouri in 2003 and then went back to Ohio before moving to Fordland, Missouri in 2009. She was a member of the Catholic faith.
Mary was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the precious memories she created for all who knew and loved her.
Rites of Christian Burial will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 5, 2011 in Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Seymour, Missouri with Father Scott Sunnenberg officiating. Burial will be in Seymour Masonic Cemetery under direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Seymour. Visitation will be Saturday, 9:00 A.M. until service time in the funeral home.
