Mary Stokes' Obituary
Mary D. Stokes, daughter of Louis and Irene King-Hughes, was born February 12, 1962, in Erie, Pennsylvania. She departed this life Saturday, August 29, 2009, at her home in Macomb, Missouri, at the age of forty-seven years, six months, and seventeen days. On June 25, 1988, Mary was united in marriage to David Stokes and to this union two daughters were born. Mary was preceded in death by her father, and a sister, Susan Wienczkowski. She is survived by her husband, David, of the home; her twin daughters, Jessica and Rebecca Stokes, of the home; her mother, Irene Hughes, of Mansfield, Missouri; her sisters, Geanne Yohn, of Dauphin, Pennsylvania, Brenda Visioli of Parker, Colorado, Linda Minthorn of Johnson City, Tennessee, Robin Thomas of Westmont, New Jersey, and Amy Kramer of Dillsburg, Pennsylvania; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and numerous dear friends. Mary was born in Erie, Pennsylvania, and moved to the Halifax area where she graduated in 1980 from Halifax High School. Following graduation, she worked in the Harrisburg area until she met and married David in 1988. After their marriage, Mary and David moved to East Tennessee where they owned and operated a woodworking business. In 1991, they moved to Knoxville, Tennessee, and later to Macomb, Missouri, in 2000. While living in Macomb, Mary and David raised quarter horses and also operated a beef cattle farm. Mary had also worked the last few years as a manager and supervisor for several Casey’s General Stores in the area. In her spare time, Mary enjoyed gardening and spinning. Mary was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she has created for her family and many dear friends. Services will be held at 3:30pm on Wednesday September 2, 2009 at the First Baptist Church of Mansfield. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation is Tuesday evening 6-8:00pm at the funeral home under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Mansfield, Missouri. Return to top
