Mary Turner's Obituary
Mary Florence Turner, daughter of Edward Cleveland and Lizzie Florence Allen Fagan, was born February 26, 1920 in Wright County, Missouri. She departed this life Sunday, July 20, 2008 in her home, near Mansfield, Missouri at the age of eighty-eight years, four months, and twenty-four days. On August 30, 1947, Mary was united in marriage to Jesse Burl Turner and together they have shared the past sixty years. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and four sisters. She is survived by her husband, Burl of the home; her children, Norma Mackey of Ash Grove, Missouri, Jesse Burl Turner Jr. of Greensburg, Kentucky, and Gary Wayne Turner and his wife Linda, of Springfield, Missouri; five grandchildren, Tammy Bekas and her husband Chris of Ash Grove, Missouri, Jesse Allen Turner of Leesville, Louisiana, Crystal Anderson and her husband Allen of Campbellsville, Kentucky, Jonathon Turner, who is currently stationed in Iraq while serving in the United States Army, and Angie Fairchild and her husband Jim, of Springfield, Missouri; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends. Mary grew up living near Wolf Creek Church. She and Burl moved to Greene County in the 1950’s and later moved back to the Mansfield area in 1978. Mary was of the Baptist faith and had attended Wolf Creek Church, Gentry Church, and Friendship Baptist Church at various times throughout her life. She was known as “mama” by many, and was a devoted homemaker to her family. Mary enjoyed quilting and cooking for her family. She also loved sitting on her front porch swing, where she would visit with her friends and neighbors as they would pass by and could take pleasure in the many beautiful flowers surrounding her home. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she has created for her family and many dear friends. Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday July 23, 2008 at the Holman- Howe Funeral Home, Mansfield. Burial will be in the Dennis Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday Evening 6-8:00P.M in the funeral home under the direction of the Holman- Howe Funeral Home, Mansfield, Missouri. Return to top
