On September 16, 1989, she was united in marriage to James Thurston Vaughn, who passed away in 1997.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and a niece, Christy Jones.

She was born and raised in the Kansas City area and graduated from Oak Park High School in the Class of 1967. In 1969, she moved to Louisburg, Missouri, and then to Lebanon in 1971. Mary worked as a seamstress for the H. D. Lee Company for thirteen years, and then drove a school bus for Joel E. Barber School for five years. In 1988, Mary and her mother moved to Waverly, Missouri, where Mary remained until returning to Lebanon in 2000.
Mary was saved as a young girl and was an active member of Emmanuel Chapel, near Lebanon. She had served as a Sunday school teacher for several years.
She had been involved in Camp Fire Girls, Awana’s Leader, and had served on a missionary trip to South America in 1982. In her spare time she enjoyed doing counted cross stitch, growing beautiful flowers, and cooking. She also enjoyed nature and was particularly fond of butterflies. Above all things, Mary enjoyed helping others as a service to the Lord.
Mary was a loving sister, aunt, great-aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and we know her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
Memorial donations to Emmanuel Chapel Bible Church may be left at the funeral home.
