Marybelle Burke (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Marybelle Burke, daughter of Gilbert and Eula Kissinger Brown, was born February 15, 1930, in Barnsdall, Oklahoma. She departed this life Thursday, June 12, 2014, in Christian Health and Rehabilitation Center South, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-four years, three months, and twenty-seven days.
On February 3, 1947, she was united in marriage to Freeman Burke, and to this union five sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Freeman, on November 21, 1997; two sons, Jimmy John and Larry Burke; and four sisters, a child, Helen Brown, Delores Thomas, Glenna McDaniel, and Carmel Scantlin.
Marybelle is survived by three sons, David Burke, and his wife Drevis, of Ava, Missouri, Kenneth Burke, of Farmington, Missouri, and Tommy Burke, and his wife, Gypsy, of Stoutland, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Bonnie Williams, Carolyn Fletcher, both of Lebanon, Missouri, Jimmie Dean Capps, and Sharon Mangan, both of Strafford, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in the Stoutland, Missouri community and attended Stoutland Schools. After she and Freeman were married, they made their home in the Stoutland area and lovingly raised their family. In addition to being a devoted homemaker, Marybelle also worked as a nurses’ aide for Christian Health Care, Breech Medical Center, and Richland Care Center throughout the years.
Marybelle was saved at the age of nine, and was a longtime member of High Point Baptist Church.
She loved animals of all kinds and had an appreciation for wildlife. She also enjoyed growing beautiful flowers. She always had a happy disposition and liked spending time with her sisters. She bore her illness with grace and tenacity, and never complained. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marybelle was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her eighty-four years.
Memorial donations may be made to High Point Cemetery and left at the funeral home.
