Maurice Roach (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Maurice Leon Roach, son of Irvin and Mary Ramsey Roach, was born July 18, 1932, in Rogersville, Missouri. He departed this life Sunday, July 22, 2018, in Mercy Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-six years, and four days.
On July 2, 1955, he was united in marriage to Norma Lee Dickinson, and they shared the last sixty-three years.
Maurice is survived by his wife, Norma, of the home; and many wonderful neighbors and friends.
He was born and raised in Rogersville, Missouri, and then moved with his family to Lebanon, where he graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1950. He joined the military as a young man and served his country faithfully in the United States Navy from April 4, 1951 until March 23, 1955, during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he returned to Lebanon, and soon he and Norma were married. They made their home in Lebanon and Maurice began working for Hiland Dairy and then at the Strickland Grocery Store. He and Norma moved to St. Louis for a short time while Maurice worked for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft. Upon returning to Lebanon, Maurice began working in the supply division at Fort Leonard Wood as a Civil Service employee, where he continued for almost thirty years.
Maurice was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Lebanon, where he joined while Dr. Bradley Allison was pastor.
In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities were hunting, fishing, and going on float trips. He also enjoyed going to casinos. He was a quiet man who always listened to his “better half”.
Maurice was a loving husband, and was a caring and kind neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Memorial contributions to the Gideon Ministry, may be made through the funeral home.
