Max Laber's Obituary
Harry Max Laber, 93, of Linn Creek, Missouri, passed away Friday, October 17, 2008, in Ozark Care Center. He was born May 29, 1915, in North Kansas City, Missouri, to Harry M. Laber, Sr. and Catherine Casteel Laber. Max served in the Army during World War II and obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant in the Quarter Master Corps and was stationed in Japan. In 1937, he married Louise Matthys and together they had two children. Max owned Swift Avenue Transfer in North Kansas City, Missouri, until he retired in 1982. His wife preceded him in death in 1969. In 1971, Max married Judy Olson Hiles, and in 1985 they moved to the Lake of the Ozarks. For many years he enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. He had a great love of animals. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Catherine Ruth Spruytte. He is survived by his wife, Judy Laber, of the home; a daughter, Nancy Hayob and her husband, Al, of Lee’s Summitt, Missouri; a son, Harold Laber and his wife, Betty, of Woodland, California; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two brothers, Norman Laber and his wife, Shirley, of Claycomo, Missouri, and Carl Laber and his wife, Judy, of Parkville, Missouri. The family would like to thank the staff at Ozark Care Center for their excellent medical care, their support and many kindnesses. Services will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday October 22, 2008 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Camdenton, Missouri. Burial will be in the Mistwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday Evening 6-8:00 pm in the Funeral Home under the direction of the Allee- Holman- Howe Funeral Home Camdenton, Missouri.A memorial has been established to the Blue Moon Sanctuary and donations may be made through the funeral home.
