Maxine Eidson's Obituary
Maxine “Nano” Eidson, daughter of Roy and Treva Gallivan Watson, was born November 10, 1920, in Bolivar, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, March 13, 2006, in St. John’s Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years, four months, and three days. On December 8, 1942, she was united in marriage to Elbert Eidson, and to this union one son was born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elbert, in February of 1988; and two brothers, Billy Gene and Mike Watson. Maxine is survived by a son, Steve Eidson, and his wife, Deanna, of Mansfield, Missouri; a granddaughter, Stephanie Horton, and her husband, Ken, of Mansfield, Missouri; a grandson, Kelly Eidson, and his wife, Dina, of Branson, Missouri; eight great-grandchildren, Josh, Brittany, Bethany, Jonah, Brenner, Ellie Mae, Sarah, and Becca; a great-great-grandchild, Sean; a sister, Avanelle Felton, and her husband, Vernon, of Springfield, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in Bolivar, Missouri, and graduated from Bolivar High School. After she and Elbert were married, they made their home in Springfield, and lovingly raised their son. In addition to being a devoted homemaker and mother, Maxine also worked at the Levy Wolf Department Store in Springfield for many years. Upon retiring, she and Elbert moved to Bolivar in 1978. Following Elbert’s passing in 1988, Maxine made her home in Mansfield, Missouri, to be close to her son, and worked at various different jobs for the next several years. Maxine made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was a member of First Baptist Church of Mansfield. She volunteered her time at the Crisis Center in Mansfield and was currently a member of the Mansfield Housing Authority Board. She loved caring for people, and especially her grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Nano”. She also loved watching and feeding the birds in her spare time. Maxine was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments, and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2006, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Mansfield. Burial will be in the Mount Olive Cemetery, near Bolivar. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Mansfield, Missouri.
