Mayme E. Berry (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Mayme Ester Berry, daughter of John and Thelma Medley Jennings, was born March 1, 1938, in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Thursday, January 25, 2018, in the University of Missouri Medical Center, in Columbia, Missouri, at the age of seventy-nine years, ten months, and twenty-four days.
On May 12, 1957, she was united in marriage to Hobert L. Berry and to this union three daughters and one son were born.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Mayme is survived by her loving husband of sixty years, Hobert, of the home; three daughters, Anita Hamilton, Janette Bair, and her husband, Tom, all of Kansas City, Missouri, and Christina Berry, of Grandview, Missouri; a son, Derrick Berry, and his wife, Mary, of LaCygne, Kansas; fourteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Lord, of Smyrna, Georgia; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Lebanon area. After she and Hobert were married, they made their home in the Kansas City, Missouri area, and lovingly raised their children. Mayme was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family throughout the years. Once Hobert retired, he and Mayme moved to Edwards, Missouri, near the Lake of the Ozarks, and enjoyed retirement.
Mayme made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Kansas City for a number of years. Her faith was very important to her and she also sang in the church choir.
In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, doing cross stitch projects, working puzzles, and gardening. She liked working in her yard and had even done some landscaping. Her family was very dear to her and she especially enjoyed having time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mayme was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her seventy-nine years.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, and left at the funeral home.
