Mayme Blickensderfer's Obituary
Mayme Emaline Blickensderfer, daughter of William Lindsey and Arminta B. VanHooser Parsons, was born January 30, 1905, near Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Saturday, October 10, 2009, in Hillcrest Hospital, in Waco, Texas, at the age of one hundred four years, eight months, and ten days. On June 22, 1935, she was united in marriage to Martin T. Blickensderfer, who preceded her in death on July 15, 1969. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Tracy Ching; and two brothers, Rex and James Parsons. Mayme is survived by a son, Robert Ramsey, and his wife, Shirley, of Moody, Texas; four grandchildren, Lisa Adkins, Tracy Pyle, Vicky Ching, and Robert Ramsey, Jr.; five great-grandchildren, Jacob, Michael, Brenna, Heather, and Chris; two great-great-grandchildren, Mary and Chris; a sister-in-law, Viola Parsons, of Lebanon, Missouri; a special great-niece, Elizabeth Ann Holly and her husband, Leslie Dean, of Lebanon, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born near Lebanon, Missouri, and was raised in Eldon and St. Louis. After receiving her education, she returned to Lebanon, where she met and married, Martin. They made their home in Lebanon, and Mayme attended business college. In addition to be being a devoted homemaker to her family, she also worked at the Rice Stix Factory for a time, and then was the bookkeeper at Palmer Furniture for over twenty-nine years. Mayme was a longtime, active member of First United Methodist Church in Lebanon. She joined the Rebekah Lodge in St. Louis and then was a member of the lodge in Lebanon for a number of years. She also was a member of the Green Thumb Garden Club for many years. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, and collecting antiques, having owned an antique store at one time. Mayme was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and great-aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday October 15, 2009 at Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon. Burial will be in the Lebanon Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday evening 7-8:30 p.m. under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri. Return to top
