Mearl Kissinger's Obituary
Mearl Margaret Kissinger, daughter of John and Eliza Jane Stone Maynard, was born November 30, 1914, in Lead, South Dakota. She departed this life Tuesday, March 9, 2010, in Phelps County Regional Medical Center, in Rolla, Missouri, at the age of ninety-five years, three months, and nine days. On September 20, 1937, she was united in marriage to Cleve Harrison Kissinger, and to this union one daughter and one son were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cleve, on February 3, 1994; and a sister, Mable George. Mearl is survived by a daughter, Marilyn Hensley, and her husband, Dwight, of Waynesville, Missouri; a son, John Kissinger, and his wife, Jeanette, of Fort Smith, Arkansas; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in South Dakota, where her father was a gold miner, and then lived in Kansas for a time. After she and Cleve were married, they made their home in St. Louis, Missouri, and lovingly raised their children. Throughout the years, Mearl was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family. After Cleve retired in 1972, he and Mearl moved to the Swedeborg and Camdenton area for a short time. In the mid 1980’s, they moved to Lebanon and made their home. Mearl had made her profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Southern Heights Christian Church in Lebanon. In her spare time she liked being active and especially traveling. She also enjoyed decorating. She possessed a sharp mind, which she kept until the very end, and had a delightful sense of humor. Her family was also most important in her life and she greatly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mearl was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday March 11, 2010 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon. Entombment will be in the Mt. Rose Memorial Park.
