Melvin Coleman's Obituary
Melvin James Coleman, son of Spilsby and Mable Denny Coleman, was born February 27, 1934, near Camdenton, Missouri. He departed this life Monday, April 23, 2007, in St. John’s Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-three years, one month, and twenty-six days. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Teresa Coleman; a grandson, James Glen Coleman; and three sisters, Lena Irene Gohagon, and two infants. Melvin is survived by seven daughters, Michelle Neville, of Branson, Missouri, Kendra Dibben (Coleman), Kayla Dibben (Coleman), Myra Piercy, Sherry Weaver, Glenda Coleman, and Diane Hash, all of Lebanon, Missouri; three sons, J. E. Combs, and Jim Coleman, both of Lebanon, Missouri, and Craig Coleman, of Kansas City, Missouri; twelve grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in the Camdenton, Missouri area. Throughout his life he worked as a truck driver, a construction worker, and as a buyer for a parts company. He also was an ordained Missionary Baptist Church minister. Melvin made his profession of faith in Christ early in his life and was a member of the Myetta Missionary Baptist Church, near Camdenton, Missouri. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and liked watching car races, particularly NASCAR races. He possessed a delightful sense of humor and liked to laugh. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren. Melvin was a loving father, and grandfather, and was a caring and compassionate pastor, neighbor and friend. The wonderful memories he made for his family and friends will live on forever. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 26, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Burial will be in the Myetta Cemetery, near Camdenton. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Memorials to the Myetta Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund may be made through the funeral home.
