Melvin C Riebel (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Melvin C. Riebel, son of the late Clemens and Anna (Dinges) Riebel, was born on February 3, 1931 in Bazine, KS, and departed this life on September 16, 2022 in Buffalo, MO. At the time of his passing he was 91 years, seven months, and 12 days of age.
Melvin was raised and attended school in Bazine, KS. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country for 21 years. After retiring from the Air Force, Melvin began farming and raising beef cattle. He was united in marriage to Norma J. Frownfelter on August 11, 1952 and to this union five children were born, four of whom survive him. He was a life member of the VFW Post 9638, MFA Board Delegate, and a member of the Pomme De Terre Golf Course. Melvin was also member of the St. Williams Catholic Church in Buffalo, MO.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Kathy Tidwell; five brothers, John, Norbert, Paul, Victor, and Leon Riebel; and four sisters, Leona Riebel, Barbara Riebel, Winifred, and Arlele Drake. He is survived by his wife Norma of the home; two sons, Gary and wife Doris Riebel of Grain Valley, MO and Michael and wife Cindy Riebel of Preston, MO; two daughters, Sherrie Preston of Ozark, MO and Tawnya and husband Scott Losito of Preston, MO; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Wilbert and wife Mary Ann Riebel; and one sister, Florentia Riebel. He also leaves other family members and many friends who will all truly miss him.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at the St. Williams Catholic Church with Father Simon officiating. Escorts will be Ian Duncan, Joshua Riebel, Scott Bishop, Justin Roller, Jason Vest, Jeremy Swafford, Scott Losito, and Mike Howard. Interment will be in the Little Niangua Cemetery under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at the Funeral Home.
