Melvin Williamson (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Melvin F. Williamson, 86, of Bolivar, died April 24, 2011 at Citizens Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Melvin was born February 14, 1925 in St. Louis, Missouri to Melvin H. and Lillian Brown Williamson. He was joined in marriage to Anna Lee Walker in October of 1943. They were blessed with sixty seven and a half years of life together.
Melvin attended Faith Bible Academy in Camdenton, Missouri before moving to Bolivar to attend Southwest Baptist College. He graduated from college in 1957. He was called to the ministry while living in St. Louis and devoted his life to that calling. He pastored churches in Lebanon, Camdenton, Bolivar, Dadeville and El Dorado. He retired from the ministry in 1990 because of health issues.
Melvin was also well known for painting beautiful homes, businesses and he loved refinishing old furniture. He also loved “playing” with his chainsaw and would spend hours cutting wood, stacking it, and brushing it off. He also enjoyed trains, real and model ones. But for those who knew him best we know he was most passionate about just talking in general and could do so with anyone at any time on any subject and with a great deal of knowledge.
Preceding Melvin in death were his daughter, Sharon Appleby Adams; a son Paul Williamson; sister Mae Rohne; brother Earl Williamson and his parents Melvin H. and Lillian Williamson.
Melvin is survived by his wife, Anna Lee of the home, the one person in life that he loved, respected, depended on and admired above all others. He has two sons, Jack, of Marionville, and Steve, of Bolivar, and one daughter, Debra Lemmon, of Bolivar. He has thirteen grandchildren: James Williamson, Jacqueline Rowe, Cindy Clark, Shelly Ellison, Paul Williamson, Richard Williamson, Leia Dodd, Jennifer Collins, Brittany Blair, Eric Lemmon, Lori Francis, Justin Lemmon, Melissa Gambriel, Michael Williamson and Aubrey Tindle. He also has twenty two great grandchildren: Julie and James Williamson, Ashley and Robert Rowe, Jenna, Tyler and Caley Brown, Jodie and Sam Phillips, Derrick, David and Dawn Williamson, Rose, Nya and Champ Dodd, Kai, Lillith and Avalon Collins, Nathan, Joshua and Benjamin Francis, Kaley and Mariah Stock and Peyton Tindle. Funeral Services will be held at Butler Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 11:00 am with Reverend Ron McIntire officiating. Burial will be at Crestview Memorial Gardens. Casketbearers will be Michael Williamson, Jack Lemmon, Justin Lemmon, Steve Clark, Billy Gambriel and Eddie Lollar.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society % Butler Funeral Home, P.O. Box 11, Bolivar, MO 6513
