Merton McLellan's Obituary
Merton Wayne McLellan, age eighty, of Wheatland, Missouri, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2011, at his son?s home in Louisburg, Kansas. He was born May 16, 1930, in Drexel, Missouri, to Wayne C. McLellan and Alleen Edith (Williams) McLellan. Merton graduated from Paseo High School in Kansas City, Missouri. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1955. He was an Air Traffic Controller from 1955 to 1974. He went to work as a Truck Driver hauling freight for Debrick Truck Line for 15 years prior to retirement in 1990. On February 14, 1997, he married LaVeta M. Stubbs in Everton, Missouri. Merton was of the Baptist Faith and a member of the VFW in Paola, Kansas. He enjoyed traveling, boating, yard work, gardening, television and model trains. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Marlene Hayes; a brother, James C. McLellan; and mother of his three sons, Delores Gander. Merton is survived by his wife, LaVeta M. McLellan, of the home; three sons, Scott L. McLellan of Springfield, Missouri, Dane T. McLellan and his wife, Lisa, of Drexel, Missouri, and Wade L. McLellan and his wife, Angela, of Louisburg, Kansas; eight grandchildren, Kurtis, Garrett, Jake, Wyatt, Kyle, Auston, Mitchell, and Madison; as well as many nieces and nephews.
