Michael Charles Cheek (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Michael Charles “Mike” Cheek, son of John Bill and Jackie Mae Booker Cheek, was born November 28, 1945, in Independence, Missouri. He departed this life Sunday, August 18, 2019, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-three years, eight months, and twenty days.
His parents preceded him in death.
Mike is survived by two brothers, Loyd Cheek, of Lebanon, Missouri, and John Cheek, of Elsberry, Missouri; a sister, Joyce Carriker, and her significant other, Jake Smith, of Collins, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Independence and Blue Springs, Missouri, and graduated from Fort Osage High School. He then served his country faithfully in the United States Army as a combat engineer during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he returned to the Independence area and worked in building construction for many years. He had spent his retirement years in Lebanon with his brother, Loyd.
Mike had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Washington Christian Church, near Lebanon.
In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities were fishing and hunting. He also liked playing video games and watching movies.
Mike was a loving brother and uncle, and was a good neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon.
