Michael Foley's Obituary
Michael Joe Foley, son of Joe Donald and Mary Margaret Rupard Foley, was born October 28, 1955, in Kansas City, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, September 11, 2009, in his home, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of fifty-three years, ten months, and thirteen days. His father preceded him in death. Michael is survived by a daughter, Sarah Grover, of Columbia, Missouri; a stepson, William Chilton, of Columbia, Missouri; two grandsons, Ian and Elam; his mother, Margaret Foley, of Lebanon, Missouri; his fiancée, Dinah Cogdill, of Lebanon, Missouri; a brother, Brian Foley, and his wife, Sieglinde, of Lebanon, Missouri; three sisters, Shelia Darnell, and her husband, Richard, of Phillipsburg, Missouri, Donna Willcockson, and her husband, David, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Melissa Wells, of Springfield, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in the Kansas City and Liberty, Missouri area. As a young man he served his country faithfully in the United States Army. After being honorably discharged from the military, he made his home in Columbia, Missouri, where he worked as a nurses’ aide at the Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital for several years. He also worked as an aide at a nursing home in Clinton, Missouri for a time and had held various other jobs throughout the years. He had recently made his home with his mother in Lebanon for the last several months. Michael made his profession of faith in Christ and was baptized at a Baptist church in Columbia, where he attended services for several years. In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activity was fishing, which he did as often as possible. He also liked to go mushroom hunting. He had an easy going way about him and enjoyed being a free spirit. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandsons. Michael was a loving father, grandfather, fiancé, son, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful times they spent together. Services will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday September 16, 2009 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon. Burial will be in the High Point Cemetery near Stoutland. Visitation will begin at 1:00pm until service time under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri. A memorial has been established to the Curry Cancer Center.
