Michael Huckaby (Mansfield)'s Obituary
Michael Dean Huckaby, son of Darrel Huckaby and Dorothy Dudley Wallace, was born January 6, 1963 in Springfield, Missouri and departed this life on November 11, 2011 in his home east of Seymour, Missouri at the age of forty-eight years, ten months and five days.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Stephen and Lois Dudley and Cecil and Eva Huckaby with whom he was very close. He was also preceded in death by an uncle, Gerald Huckaby; a great-aunt, Sybil Conley and a great-uncle, Oswald Dudley.
Mike is survived by his mother, Dorothy Wallace of Seymour, Missouri; his father, Darrel Huckaby and his wife Cris of Elkland, Missouri; two brothers, David Wallace of Seymour, Missouri and Tyler Huckaby of Elkland, Missouri; two sisters, Cassie Huckaby of Buffalo, Missouri and Emilie Huckaby of Marshfield, Missouri; a special niece, Alexandra Wallace of Springfield, Missouri; cousins, Debbie Calhoun, Erik Calhoun and his wife Carrie, Zack Calhoun and his wife Fiona all of Jacksonville, Arkansas; an uncle, Junior Huckaby and his wife Evelyn of Kansas City, Kansas, other relatives and many friends.
Mike grew up in Mansfield and spent most weekends and summers on the family farm in Wright County with his grandparents. He also enjoyed spending time with his father taking trips on the truck and riding motorcycles. Mike graduated from Mansfield High School in the Class of 1981. After graduating he worked as a motorcycle mechanic for Drinnon Motorsport in Mansfield and Lebanon for several years. Mike was also a foreman for several years supervising crews clearing trees and brush from power line right-of-ways.
And for a short time he had also worked at Hutchens Industries in Seymour. But his favorite work was on the farm. He liked cutting and raking hay, planting fields, using his chainsaw and just really enjoyed being outdoors.
Mike accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior on July 28, 2006.
In his spare time he loved riding motorcycles and hunting.
Mike was a loving son, brother and uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will cherish the special memories he created for his family and friends.
