The last time I spoke with Mike was at our 50th reunion. I had traveled back to IL from SC specifically for the event. We reminisced about our Vietnam time. He was a gentleman, had a sweet spirit, always treated me well AHS. I look forward to reuniting with him in Heaven...
Mike had such a sweet spirit and a heart of compassion. He and Gayla reached out to meet a need during one of the most difficult times of my life, and I will be forever grateful. I will always remember seeing Mike's smiling face at church and this warm personality. Gayla-This is GiGi (Gerler) Meystedt I am not sure if you will remember me from years ago when I helped with your home. I have never forgotten you and have often wondered how you were doing and where you lived. I saw Mike's obituary in the seMissourian today and I could not read it and just move on. I am so sorry for your loss. I remember you and Mike as such kind gentle people. I am so thankful to know Mike knew the Lord but I also know grief this side of heaven is real. I will be praying for you as you walk through this season and pray you know the Lord IS WITH YOU. I will pray that you see His hand all over your life and He gives you His peace that surpasses all understanding. Prayers, blessings and hugs to you.
I only came to know Mike a few years ago. He participated in a Christian small group that meets in our home. He was soft spoken, but I knew there was something special behind what he had to share. There is no doubt about his Christian faith, and that now gives me peace in knowing what his eternity is. He will be missed, but not forgotten.
