Michael Duane Smith (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Michael Duane Smith, son of Lester Leroy and Harriett Lepley Smith, was born January 30, 1944, in Lansing, Michigan. He departed this life Wednesday, July 8, 2020, in his home in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-six years, five months, and nine days.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Marv Smith.
Michael is survived by two foster sons, Ben Schooler, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Louis Schooler, of Jamestown, North Dakota; two daughters, Kristen Parker, of the State of Colorado, and Leslie Smith, of Mustang, Oklahoma; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Shayne Smith, of the State of Tennessee; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was raised in Michigan and graduated with honors from Ithaca High School at the age of sixteen. He continued to make his home in Michigan for several years, and then lived in Montana and Wyoming for many years. He had continued his education and earned a Bachelor’s degree and spent an additional year working towards a Law degree. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army as a military decoder during the Vietnam era and then continued in the reserves for a few more years. He had owned a log home business, a restaurant, and was a commercial real estate broker throughout the years. He had made his home in Missouri for over fifteen years.
Michael was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints wherever he lived.
He loved being outdoors and was especially fond of horses, hunting and guns.
Michael was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and was a caring friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
