Micky Yates' Obituary
Micky Wayne Yates, son of Richard Wayne and Sherron Jean (Hennigh) Yates was born September 23, 1967 in Pasadena,Texas. He departed this life Saturday, May 23, 2009 in his home in Seymour, Missouri at the age of forty-one years and eight months. On June 17, 1989, he was united in marriage to Dawn Michelle Yonkman, and to this union one daughter, Nikki, was born. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Vernon Yates, and maternal grandfather, Edward Earl Hennigh.
Micky is survived by his loving wife, Michelle, of the home; his daughter, Nikki, of the home; his father and mother, Richard and Sherron Yates, of Seymour, Missouri; a brother, Reverend Corey Yates and his wife, Jennifer, of Seymour, Missouri; five nephews, Chevy, CeeJay, Cortland, Cy, and Cash Yates; his maternal grandmother, Helen Hennigh, of Seymour, Missouri; his father-in-law, Bob Yonkman, of Ormond Beach, Florida; his mother-in-law, Debbie Greer, of Fordland, Missouri; his paternal grandfather-in-law, Tom Melrose and paternal grandmother-in-law, Marion Nitzsche, both of Springfield, Missouri; a number of uncles, aunts, cousins; and a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
Micky was born in Texas but lived most of his life in the Seymour, Missouri area. He graduated from Seymour High School in the Class of 1986 and started M-Y Auto, doing auto body work, mechanic work, and muffler repair. He was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s Disease in October of 2008 and became disabled, and eventually sold the business.
He had accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized at the Diggins Baptist Church in Diggins.
In his spare time he enjoyed working on cars, riding his 4-wheelers, and personal water craft. He had built his own race car and raced it at The Ozark International Raceway, south of Rogersville, Missouri.
Micky was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandson, son-in-law, grandson-in-law, nephew, cousin, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the wonderful memories he created for his family and many dear friends.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
