Mike White (Camdenton)'s Obituary
Curtis O. White, known as “Mike”, was born November 26, 1915, and departed this life May 17, 2011, at the age of ninety-five years, five months and twenty-one days.
Mike was born of Lebius and Susie White in Lodi, Missouri. He had two sisters, Gladys and Rachel, and one brother, Gordie, who are all deceased. They were poor monetarily but had a loving, Christian family. They moved from Lodi to Poplar Bluff, Missouri. That was where he met Wilma Dixon, who had one date with his brother, Gordie. From then on, it was Mike and Wilma. They fell very much in love and were married in Dexter, Missouri, on August 31, 1935. Mike worked for a short time in a sawmill. Then went to work at Kroger’s until he retired from there. He worked hard and became the head meat cutter. He was dedicated to Kroger’s and to providing for his family.
Mike and Wilma had three children, Mona, Larry and Eddie. Their home was open to everyone. Mike would come home from standing on his feet all day to a living room full of his children and their friends. Frequently he had no place to sit. He and Wilma would sit at the kitchen table or go into the bedroom to read and relax. He loved his family and enjoyed the Cardinals baseball, the Rams football and camping.
Mike is survived by his daughter Mona Poole and her husband Rich; sons, Larry White and his wife Jeanne and Eddie White and his wife Shirley. There are five grandchildren, Pam Viduszynski and her husband Joe, Mike Smith and his wife Carol, Cathy Stadter and her husband Richard, Martin White and Lindsey Zuercher. There are eight great-grandchildren, Charlie Willyard, Chantel Powell, Crystal Stadter, Rachel Stadter, Danielle Stadter, Allison White, Curtis White and Molly White; for great-great-grandchildren Steven and Autumn Powell and Isabella and Sophia Willyard, as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. All of these people say thank you for the legacy and role model you prepared for us. He is loved and will be missed by many.
We are here today to celebrate Mike’s life, knowing full well he is with Jesus and reunited with his wife, Wilma.
