Mildred Davis' Obituary
Mildred Alvina Davis, daughter of James Milton and Margarette “Maggie” Julia Hanks Burch, was born August 26, 1934, in Camden County, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, October 5, 2009, in Christian Health Care South, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-five years, one month, and nine days. Early in her life she was married to Robert Lee Hall, who preceded her in death. On November 25, 1955, she was united in marriage to Tom Davis, who passed away on November 2, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two children, Loraine and Mona; two grandchildren, Joanna and James, Jr.; five brothers, James, Ned, Ben, Wesley, and Joe; and two sisters, Marvel, and an infant, Twyla. Mildred is survived by a daughter, Julie Lane, of Orlando, Florida; four sons, Robert Hall, of Tulare, California, James Randy Hall, of Lebanon, Missouri, Owen Davis, and Drew Davis, both of Phillipsburg, Missouri; sixteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill Burch, of Osceola, Missouri; a sister, Helen Nida, of Des Moines, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in the Camdenton, Missouri area and attended Lynn Creek School. The family then moved back and forth from California to Missouri, before settling in Missouri in 1954. Throughout her life, Mildred was a devoted and hardworking homemaker to her family. She enjoyed crocheting and doing needlepoint, and liked to cook, with her specialty being skillet cornbread. She liked watching religious services on television and enjoyed singing at the Thursday evening songfests at Vernon Heights. Mildred was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them throughout the years. Services will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday October 10, 2009 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon. Burial will be in the Washington Cemetery. Visitation is Friday evening 7-8:30pm at the funeral home under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri. A memorial has been established to the Washington Cemetery Care Fund.
