Mildred Dawson's Obituary
Mildred Irene Archer Dawson, daughter of Frank M. and Cora M. Taylor Sweatt, was born May 22, 1921, near Stoutland, in Camden County, Missouri. She departed this life Thursday, October 2, 2008, in Christian Health Care North, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-seven years, four months, and ten days. On April 30, 1939, she was united in marriage to Clarence Owen Archer, and to this union one daughter and two sons were born. Mr. Archer passed away on July 3, 1966. Later in her life, she married Orval G. Dawson, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Alan Brown; a half-brother, Orval Webster; and three half-sisters, Elsie Hammer, Floy Sellers, and Robbie Sweatt. Mildred is survived by a daughter, Lavon Brown, of Blue Springs, Missouri; two sons, Richard Archer, and his wife, Donna, and Ronald Archer, and his wife, Claudine, all of Lebanon, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Becky, Cindy, David, Debbie, Duane, Bobby, Brenda, and Kim; twenty-two great-grandchildren, Joshua, Chelsea, Zackary, Cassie, Brandon, Johnathon, Christopher, Robbie, Sara, Logan, Matthew, Greg, Brad, Jacie, Tanner, Kala, Phillip, Joshua, Isaac, Thomas, Caleb, and Faith; one great-great-grandchild, Brandon; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was raised in the Stoutland and Sleeper communities and graduated from Stoutland High School. After she and Clarence were married, they made their home in the Lebanon area and lovingly raised their children. Throughout the years, Mildred was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family. Later, she and Orval made their home in the Lebanon community. Mildred made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life, and was a faithful member of Southern Heights Christian Church for over thirty years. In her spare time she enjoyed hand stitching quilts, and crocheting. Her family was most important to her and she greatly enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mildred was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them. Services will be at 2:00 pm Sunday October 5, 2008 at the Holman- Howe Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Lebanon Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience. Services are under the direction of Holman- Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri.A memorial has been established to St. Jude's Children's Hospital and donations may be made through the funeral home.
