Mildred Mallory's Obituary
Mildred Calhoun Mallory, daughter of James Calhoun and Essie Curtis Calhoun was born June 13, 1919 in Wright County. She departed this life on Thursday evening, January 5, 2012, in Cox Health South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of ninety- two years, six months, and twenty-three days. On March 5, 1937, Mildred was united in marriage to Lillard (Jack) Mallory, and to this union two sons were born. Mildred was raised on Pea Ridge and enjoyed the simple times with her brother and sisters. After she married Jack, they worked together milking cows and raising their family. There was always plenty of love and wonderful food for those who came to Mildred?s home. You couldn?t leave until you had something to eat, no matter if you were hungry or not. She cared for her family growing a garden, canning in the summertime and baking in the fall. The only thing that slowed her down was an antique sale then it was time to hit the road and return with a load. Mildred embraced her treasures and the hunt of finding them for over fifty years. Like the prisms she enjoyed so much, Mildred lived a life that reflected her love for others, her family and friends. She was a survivor of breast cancer, and even through it all, Mildred took care of her family first. She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Jack Mallory; her brother Mannie Calhoun; her sisters Minnie and Trissie; and Amos Curtis. Mildred is survived by her sons, Gerald Mallory and wife Joan and Darrell Mallory and wife Helen, all of Seymour, Missouri along with many dear nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends. We will miss her beautiful smile, the times of joy and wonderful moments we had with Mildred Mallory. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish all the memories she created for family and friends.
