Mildred (Molly) Harris' Obituary
Mildred Molly Harris, daughter of Herbert and Mary Wanco Harris, was born March 26, 1922, in Warren, Ohio. She departed this life Tuesday, January 15, 2008, in Christian Health Care North, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years, nine months, and nineteen days. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her life partner, Irma Stricklen, on March 23, 2004. Molly is survived by a daughter, Becky Feilzer, and her husband, Jim, of Lebanon, Missouri; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Stuckemeyer, of Palm Springs, California, Stephanie Stuckemeyer, of Livermore, California, Laura Stuckemeyer, of Portland, Oregon, and Eric Stuckemeyer, of Lebanon, Missouri; a brother, Jeff Harris, and his wife, Holly, of Delmar, Maryland, and children, Kim Harris, of Everest, Washington, and Scott Harris, of Seattle, Washington; a sister, Linda Harris, and her husband, Bob Miyade, of Santa Barbara, California, and children, David Hoover, of San Diego, California, Tim Hoover, and his wife, Kelly, of Santa Barbara, California, and Suzanne Paton, of West Kingston, Rhode Island; other nieces and nephews include: Herman Sticklen, and his wife, Betty, Deane Stricklen, and his wife, Brenda, all of Lebanon, Missouri, Marilyn Stricklen, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Ed Stricklen, and his wife, Kathy, of Decatur, Illinois; an aunt, Dolly Green, of Indianapolis, Indiana; out-of-town cousins include: Gloria Monsey, and her husband, Rick, of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Diane Forester, of Brentwood, California; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. She was born and raised in Warren, Ohio, and graduated from Warren G. Harding High School. She then served her country faithfully in the Women’s Army Corps for the next two and one-half years. After being honorably discharged from the WAC’s, she made her home in Altamont, Illinois, where she and Irma owned and operated the Lucky Strike Bowling Lanes and a café called, The Little Palace, for a number of years. In 1984, Molly and Irma retired and moved to Lebanon, Missouri, where Molly continued to make her home after Irma’s passing. Molly was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Lebanon, and was very involved in the Morning Joy Women’s Circle. She enjoyed being a volunteer for the Breech Medical Center and then the St. John’s Hospital in Lebanon and liked working in the Ladies Auxiliary’s Gift Shop for several years. In her spare time she enjoyed doing light gardening, and shopping, and was an avid reader. She was a strong supporter and lifelong member of the Democratic Party and enjoyed following local, state and federal politics. Molly was a kind and caring person, and was an excellent example of a gracious lady. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2008, in the Mount Rose Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
