Mildred Summerfield's Obituary
Mildred Evelyn Summerfield, daughter of Paul and Mary (Lamunion) Mitchell, was born December 30, 1931, in Qulin, Missouri. She departed this life Tuesday, March 27, 2007, in Maranatha Village, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-five years, two months, and twenty-seven days. On January 29, 1949 she was united in marriage to Glen Summerfield, Sr. and to this union two daughters and two sons were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, James and Paul Mitchell. Mildred is survived by her husband, Glen, of the home; two daughters, Linda Plachy, and her husband, Keith, of Springfield, Missouri, and Glenda Bollinger, and her husband, Don, of Willow Springs, Missouri; two sons, Dennis Summerfield, and his wife, Yvonne, of Trinidad, Texas, and Glen Summerfield, Jr., and his wife, Patricia, of Springfield, Missouri; three grandchildren, ClairAnn Muddiman, Jayson Durden, and Malissa Summerfield; two great-granddaughters, Grace Muddiman, and Mahala Rodriguez; a brother, Donald Mitchell, and his wife, Naomi, of Beaufort, Missouri; a sister, Mary Ann Lyter, and her husband, Bob, of Belleville, Pennsylvania; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in the Qulin area; after she met and married Glen they moved to St. Louis and later moved to Thayer. Then in 2001 they made their home in Mountain Grove. Mildred had made her profession of belief in Christ and followed the protestant faith. She loved family gatherings and spending time with her children and grandchildren. In her spare time she enjoyed making jewelry, sewing, working in her garden, and making Raggedy Ann dolls. She also collected salt and pepper shakers. Mildred was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she has created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Mansfield. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Mountain Grove. Visitation will be held Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until service time. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Mansfield, Missouri.
