Monte D. Waterman (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Monte Dean Waterman, son of Roy L. and Frances “Ellen” Kelsey Waterman, was born January 18, 1949, in Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Sunday, September 1, 2013, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of sixty-four years, seven months, and thirteen days.
On September 17, 2010, he was united in marriage to Joyce F. Eddleman Chambers, and they shared the last three years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Lee Warren Blair.
Monte is survived by his wife, Joyce, of the home; two daughters, Deana Spradling, and her husband, Tom, and Sherry Mansker, all of Lebanon, Missouri; two sons, Roy “Jamie” Waterman, of Conway, Missouri, and Justin Waterman, of Lebanon, Missouri; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five step-daughters, Elizabeth Patnaude, and her husband, Troy, of Lebanon, Missouri, Juanita Weathers, and her husband, Rohmel, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, Rebecca McDonald, and her husband, Milton, of Ozark, Missouri, Lillian Harrison, and her husband, Trevor, of Nixa, Missouri, and Jenny Boobyer, of Springfield, Missouri; three step-sons, Jack Chambers, and his wife, Carla, of Springfield, Missouri, David Chambers, and Reuben Chambers, and his wife, Liz, all of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of step-grandchildren; four sisters, Carolyn Waterman, Lois Clark, both of Lebanon, Missouri, Thelma King, of Springfield, Missouri, and Ruth Williams, and her husband, Jim, of Richland, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Lebanon, Missouri area, and then served in the United States Army from March 12, 1969 until April 26, 1971, during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he returned to the Lebanon area, and worked as a mechanic and truck driver for most of his life.
Monte had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Taylor Avenue Church of God.
He was a longtime active member of the Lebanon Elks Lodge # 2557, and had served as a trustee and chaplain for the club. He also belonged to the V.F.W. Post # 4107 of Lebanon.
In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activity was fishing. He also was a fan of NASCAR. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchild.
Monte was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
