Mora Ledbetter's Obituary
Mora Ledbetter, daughter of General Siegel and Celey Aggie Williams Snow, was born February 25, 1920, near Origanna, Missouri. She departed this life Sunday, December 27, 2009, in her son’s home, near Competition, Missouri, at the age of eighty-nine years, ten months, and two days. On June 10, 1939, in Mountain Grove, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Ford Ledbetter, and to this union two sons was born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ford, on May 11, 1972; a son, Terry Ledbetter, in 1949; four brothers, Charles, Elmer, Jim, and Arthur Snow; and six sisters, Estelle Burris, Ora Richardson, Clara Jones, Verba Winegardner, Vella Kile, and Opal Jones. Mora is survived by her son, Wallace Ledbetter, of Competition, Missouri; four grandchildren, Eric Ledbetter, Lisa Brayall, Lahoma Riley, all of Lebanon, Missouri, and Eydie Ann Ledbetter, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; five great-grandchildren, Alicia Ward, Letonya Ward, Karrie Ward, Brooke Mora Ledbetter, and Cody Brayall; a brother, Pleasant Snow, of Kansas City, Missouri; a sister, Velma Beasley, of Grovespring, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in the Origanna community, and attended Smittle School. After she and Ford were married when she was twenty years old, they made their home in Manes, Missouri, and then in Competition, Missouri. Throughout the years, Mora was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family. Mora had made her profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Evening Shade Baptist Church. In her spare time she enjoyed quilting, cooking, and working in her garden. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mora was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that she will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday December 31, 2009 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon. Burial will be in the McBride Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until service time under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri. Return to top
