Myrtle Thompson's Obituary
Myrtle Matilda Thompson, daughter of Bealer and Margaret Lewis, was born March 15, 1929 in Rockford Reservation, Missouri. She departed this life Thursday, April 26, 2007 in Rocky Ridge Manor in Mansfield, Missouri at the age of seventy-eight years, one month, and eleven days. In March of 1946, Myrtle was united in marriage to Roy Clarence Thompson and to this union two children were born. Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Janet “Susie” Crossland; as well as five siblings, Ruby, Earlene, Marie, Lincoln and Tuck. She is survived by her husband, Roy, of the home; a daughter, Sandra K. Crossland, of Lebanon, Missouri; two grandchildren, Tabitha Clark, of Morrisville, Missouri, and Earl Crossland, of Brighton, Missouri; fifteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bess and Rose; as well as many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. Myrtle lived in California and Arizona from 1950 to 1997 before moving to Missouri by way of Oklahoma. Roy was a cowboy and she was very proud of her “Cowboy” husband and he was the apple of her eye. She and Roy were migrant fieldworkers, working in cotton fields and grape vineyards. Myrtle loved children and animals; she also loved traveling and believed in living life to the fullest. In her spare time, Myrtle enjoyed fishing, gardening and cooking for her family and friends. Myrtle was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she has created for her family and many friends. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2007, in the Greenwood Cemetery, near Dunn, Missouri. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 7 - 8:00 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Mansfield, Missouri. A memorial has been established and contributions may be made through the funeral home.
