Mytella Sheppard's Obituary
Mytella Zora Sheppard, daughter of Jesse Vivian and Myrtle Dora Hurt Hutson, was born December 3, 1923 in Wright County, Missouri. She departed this life Tuesday, December 27, 2011 in her home near Hartville at the age of eighty-eight years and twenty four days.
On June 28, 1941, Mytella was united in marriage to Curtis Troy Sheppard and to this union four children were born.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis, on July 30, 1997; her parents; her siblings Vernon Hutson, Paul Hutson, Ray Hutson, Vivian Hill, Ruby Dugger, and Lola Hutson; and a grandson, Danny Dean Sheppard.
She is survived by her children, Danny Sheppard and wife Joyce of Hartville, Missouri, Marilyn Dudley and husband James of Neosho, Missouri, Colleen Mace and husband Ron of Bonner Springs, Kansas, and Mike Sheppard and wife Bobbie, of Hartville, Missouri; two brothers, Darrell Hutson and wife Mary of Kansas City, Missouri and Bill Hutson and wife Mollie of Eldridge, Missouri; twenty-four grandchildren, fifty great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and many dear friends.
Granny was a hard worker, working until her health forced her to retire. She enjoyed life, and loved her family and friends very much. She was a kind and caring person, always thinking about others’ needs before her own, and was always willing to go that extra mile to help those in need.
She would give the clothes off her back, or her last dollar, if she thought someone needed it. Her family truly believed that she was a woman of God’s own heart. Mytella gave her life to the Lord many years ago and was faithful to her church.
Granny enjoyed making gifts and gardening. But most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends. Nothing made her any happier than for one of the family to call and say they were coming over to visit. There was always food at Granny’s house. If you ever left her house hungry, it was your own fault.
Mytella will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. The memories that she has left behind will live on forever in our hearts.
