Nadine Simpson's Obituary
Ina Nadine Simpson, daughter of George Marion and Ida Lee Amos Johnson, was born February 24, 1925, near Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Wednesday, December 22, 2010, in Cox Medical Center South, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years, nine months, and twenty-eight days.
On May 13, 1944, she was united in marriage to Wilbert E. Simpson, and to this union two daughters were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Archie, Wayne, and Harold Johnson.
Nadine is survived by her husband of sixty-six years, Wilbert, of the home; two daughters, Donna Lawson, and her husband, Mike, and Sharon Vincent, and her husband, Ed, all of Lebanon, Missouri; six grandchildren, Erik Lawson, Aaron Lawson, Michelle Orr, Monica Greenway, Mark Vincent, and Melayne Martin; fifteen great-grandchildren, Ashley Lawson, Nicole Lawson, Cody Lawson, Julie Lawson, Zachary Orr, Meredith Orr, Gabrielle Greenway, Jamison Greenway, Jake Vincent, Nate Vincent, Kade Vincent, Anna Martin, Madelyn Martin, Abbi Porter, and Alex Porter; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in Laclede County, Missouri, and graduated from Competition High School. After obtaining her teacher?s license, she taught school for a short time. Soon after she and Wilbert were married, they made their home on their farm, near Lebanon, where they lived the last sixty-four years. Throughout her life, Nadine was a devoted and hardworking homemaker to her husband and family and lovingly raised their daughters.
Nadine was saved at an early age and joined the Orla Baptist Church. She was a longtime active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Lebanon, where she was involved in the Fort Leonard Wood Soldier Ministry for a number of years.
She was a member of the Extension Ladies Club and worked with the 4-H Program while her daughters were involved. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, growing beautiful flowers, and sewing. She also liked camping out by the river and taking trips with the grandchildren. Her life was focused around her family and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Nadine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will hold tightly to the wonderful memories she created for them throughout the years.
