Neil H. DeYoung Jr (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Neil H. DeYoung, Jr., son of Neil H. DeYoung and Laura (Pankey) DeYoung, was born on Stanley Street in Peoria, Illinois on June 15, 1930. He departed this life Thursday, May 8, 2014, in the Christian Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hermitage, Missouri, at the age of eighty-three years, ten months, and twenty-three days.
He was one of eleven children in his family, of which eight of them preceded Neil in death. His parents also preceded him in death.
On November 30, 1963, in Delavan, Illinois, he was united in marriage to Willeen Olivia Foxworthy, and they shared the last fifty years.
Neil is survived by his wife, Willeen, of the home; two sisters, Emma (DeYoung) Siebenthal, and her husband, David, of Peoria, Illinois, and Margaret (DeYoung) Bailey, of Bartonville, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.
He was born and raised in Peoria, Illinois, and served his country faithfully in the United States Army from September 10, 1951 until June 10, 1953, during the Korean War. He then was employed by Caterpillar, Inc. in Peoria, Illinois for thirty-three years, before moving to Lebanon, Missouri. He worked in the security departments at Bass Tracker and Drury University in Lebanon for several years.
Neil was raised in the Catholic faith.
In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and shooting his guns.
Neil was a loving husband, brother, uncle, and a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Arrangements for Neil H. DeYoung, Jr. are under the care and direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. No services are planned and, at his request, his body will be cremated.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff at Christian Health and Rehabilitation Center and the hospice nurses that helped in caring for Neil.
