Nellie Miller's Obituary
Nellie Lucille Miller, daughter of Glen W. and Goldie Mae Jenkins Sherrill, was born June 18, 1922, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She departed this life Friday, March 3, 2006, in Christian Healthcare South, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-three years, eight months, and fifteen days. On June 10, 1939, she was united in marriage to Calvin Coolidge Miller, and to this union one daughter and one son were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Calvin, on January 27, 1999; a son, Jerry Miller; a grandson, Todd Randolph; and an infant sister. Nellie is survived by a daughter, Bonnie Randolph, and her husband, Richard, of Wichita, Kansas; a daughter-in-law, Vickie Miller; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; a brother, E. G. Sherrill, and his wife, Louella, of Owasso, Oklahoma; a sister, Mary Rudd, and her husband, Lloyd, of Salem, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and then moved to Salem, Missouri. After she and Calvin were married, they moved to Lebanon, Missouri in the 1950’s, where Calvin worked for the Pevely Dairy. During the 1960’s, she and Calvin made their home in Camdenton for a few years, before returning to Lebanon. Throughout her life, in addition to being a devoted and loving homemaker to her family, Nellie also worked at Breech Medical Center and Joe Knight Drug Store for several years. Nellie made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was a member of Second Baptist Church in Lebanon. During the years that she was living in Camdenton, she was active in the First Baptist Church of Camdenton, where she led the deaf ministry. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, and watching the birds and animals. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nellie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2006, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Memorial contributions to the Muscular Dystrophy Association and may be made through the funeral home.
