Niels Jensen's Obituary
Niels Peter Jensen, son of James M. and Dagmar Rasmussen Jensen, was born July 25, 1914, in Valley Junction, Iowa. He departed this life Friday, November 24, 2006, in St. John’s Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety-two years, three months, and twenty-nine days. He was united in marriage to Micki Lynn Cooling. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, John M. Jensen; a brother, James Jensen; and two sisters, Esther Burrows, and Marie White. Niels is survived by three sons, Scott Jensen, and his wife, Gina, of Fenton, Missouri, Tony Jensen, and his wife, Laura, of Camdenton, Missouri, and Brent Jensen, of Anderson, Indiana; a daughter, Nancy Jensen, of Stone Park, Illinois; six grandchildren; a brother, George Jensen, of West Des Moines, Iowa; a sister, Barbara Baker, of West Des Moines, Iowa; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in Iowa and graduated from Valley High School. He served his country faithfully in the United States Navy during the 1940’s, and was honorably discharged on November 30, 1945. He then made his home in Iowa, Chicago, Illinois, and in Colorado, where throughout the years he worked as a personnel manager for Standard Brands, and Arlans Corporation. For the last twenty-seven years, he had made his home in Lebanon, Missouri. Niels followed the Lutheran faith while living in Iowa, and since coming to Lebanon he had attended the Bennett Springs Church of God. He enjoyed playing cards, particularly solitaire, and was a sports fan, especially following his favorite teams, the Cubs and Bears. During his early years he always maintained a perfect lawn. He possessed an outgoing personality and was very good at storytelling. Niels was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was also a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2006, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Burial will be in Veterans' Park in Mt. Rose Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 7 - 8:30p.m. in the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
