Nikki Darlene Petitt (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Nikki Darlene Petitt, daughter of Daniel and Bettie (Martin) Muse, was born on February 12, 1956, in Fort Worth, Texas and departed this life on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Buffalo Prairie in Buffalo, Missouri. She was at the time of her passing 67 years and 20 days of age.
Nikki was a graduate of El Reno High School in El Reno, Oklahoma. She then attended Southwestern State College in Weatherford, Oklahoma and received a degree in Journalism and Marketing. She was married to Daniel Petitt on June 6, 1975, in El Reno, Oklahoma and to this union was one son, Joshua Petitt, who was born on May 31, 1978, in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Nikki worked briefly for the Weatherford Daily News before following her love of plants, nature, and gardening. The remainder of her career was spent in horticulture at Sunshine Nursery in Clinton, Oklahoma and Wickmens’s Garden Village in Springfield, Missouri.
Nikki’s later years were spent gardening on her and her husband’s farm, and spending time with her dogs. She would also tour the country on their motorcycle and play with her granddaughter.
Nikki was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Petitt. She is survived by her parents, Daniel and Bettie Muse; son, Joshua Petitt and wife Jessica; granddaughter, Claire Petitt; one brother, Lonnie Muse and wife Tammie; and three sisters, Ree Talley and husband Mark, Janell Lee and husband Scott, and Sundy Muse. She was loved and will be missed dearly.
A memorial graveside will be held in the Union Grove Cemetery in Buffalo, Missouri on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at 4:00 P.M. under the care and direction of Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home in Buffalo. The family will be hosting a memorial service following the graveside at 5:00 P.M. at the Fair Grove Senior Center located at 122 S. Orchard Blvd. Fair Grove, Missouri 65648.
