Nita L. Johnston (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Nita Lee Johnston, daughter of Albert Ellis and Olive Alec Marshall Mitchell, was born December 27, 1955, in Springfield, Missouri. She departed this life Saturday, September 4, 2021, in the University of Missouri Hospital, in Columbia, Missouri, at the age of sixty-five years, eight months, and eight days.
On July 1, 1972, she was united in marriage to Rayborn Johnston, and to this union one daughter was born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Pauline.
Nita is survived by her loving husband, Rayborn, of the home; a daughter, Jodi Hall, and her husband, Dakota, of Stoutland, Missouri; three grandchildren, Hanah, Rilee, and Mason Wells; two sisters, Freda Randolph, of Kansas City, Missouri, and Wilma Plemmons, of Iberia, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in the Stoutland, Missouri community and graduated from Stoutland High School. While she was in high school, she met her future husband and they were soon married after graduating. Through the years, Nita was always a devoted homemaker to her husband, and family, and worked at the H. D. Lee Company in Lebanon for several years. For the last few years, she has owned and operated Dogwood Hills Kennel.
Nita had made her profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
She loved horses, cooking, and had a green thumb. She always had food available for any guests or family members. She enjoyed being involved in Jodi’s activities. She loved her family dearly and especially enjoyed her grandchildren.
Nita was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
Funeral services for Nita Johnston will be Saturday, Sept. 11 at 2 p.m. at Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon. Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 10 from 5- 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Hillhouse Cemetery.
