Noah Daniel Claxton's Obituary
Noah Daniel Claxton, son of Owen and Nora Delcour Claxton, was born April 26, 1938, in Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Thursday, June 14, 2007, in Cox Medical Center South, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of sixty-nine years, one month, and eighteen days. On October 31, 1982, he was united in marriage to Sally L. Fogle, and together they shared the last twenty-four years. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Tamara Fowler; a son, Daniel Raymond Claxton; and a half-brother, Johnny Claxton. Noah is survived by his wife, Sally, of the home; three sons, Allen Claxton, of Canton, Ohio, Rick Claxton and Joe Claxton, both of the State of Indiana; three daughters, Amanda Claxton, of the State of Indiana, Sharon Domaschofsky, and Nancy Schrepfer, both of Salem, Oregon; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Roger Claxton, of Springfield, Missouri; two sisters, Sally Simmons, of Camdenton, Missouri, and Charlottie Weaver, of Grovespring, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born in Lebanon and was raised in the Lebanon, Grovespring, and Hartville areas. He entered the military at an early age and served his country faithfully in the United States Marine Corps from May 28, 1956 until April 28, 1958. During part of his time in the military, he was stationed in Hawaii. After being honorably discharged from the Marines, he began working in the construction field. For most of his life he worked as a crane operator building power lines across the country, and he resided in various locations close to his work. For the last seventeen years, he and Sally had made their home in Springfield, Missouri. He retired as woodshop foreman from Prestress Casting Company in February of 2003. Noah followed the Freewill Baptist faith throughout his life, and always put the needs of others ahead of his own. He was a true outdoorsman and particularly liked to go fishing and coon hunting. He possessed a delightful sense of humor and liked joking and making people laugh. He enjoyed having discussions and always had an opinion no matter what the topic. Noah was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Burial will be in the O'Dell Cemetery, near Grovespring, Missouri. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Memorials to the O'Dell Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund may be made through the funeral home.
