Noel Dean Kelley (Mansfield)'s Obituary
Noel Dean Kelley, son of Floyd and Alpha Cartwright Kelley, was born October 21, 1938, in Tulare, California, and departed this life on January 4, 2011, in St. John’s Regional Health Center, Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-two years, two months and thirteen days.
He was united in marriage to Donna Sue Royal and to this union two daughters, Sandy and Karen, were born. On May 27, 1967, he was united in marriage to Barbara Grubbs and to this union two daughters, Deana and Julie, were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sandy Freeman; a brother, Lowell Kelley; a sister, Sue Matney; step-mother, Juanita Kelley; two step-brothers, David Ryan and Mike Ryan; and a step-sister, Sherry Ryan.
Noel Dean is survived by his wife, Barbara, of the home; three daughters, Karen Parsons of Macomb, Missouri, Deana Cain and her husband Aaron of Mansfield, Missouri, and Julie Breeden and her husband Aaron of Branson, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Brent, Trish and Nicole Freeman, Brian and Leslie Parsons, Tammy Vaverka, Laine Kelley Cain, Tayler Cain and Emma Breeden; four brothers, Bill Kelley and his wife Linda of Noland’s Point, Missouri, Jesse Kelley and his wife Barbara, Carl Kelley and his wife Billie, and Rick Kelley and his wife Nancy; two sisters, Shirley Cottengim and her husband Jack, and Kay Woods all of Mansfield, Missouri; a son-in-law, Kent Freeman of Mansfield, Missouri; two step-brothers, Joe Ryan of Stover, Missouri, and Jim Ryan of Mansfield, Missouri; and a step-sister, Marilyn Flake of Hartville, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.
Noel Dean was born in California but grew up in Norwood where he graduated from Norwood High School in the Class of 1958. After graduating, he proudly served his country in the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany. After marrying Barbara, they lived in a few different places but lived most of their married years in the Mansfield area.
He was member of the Clarence King Post #128 of the American Legion, Wright County Mounted Patrol, and the Mansfield Saddle Club.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved playing cards. Noel Dean was an avid coffee shop patron and would always sit at the round table with about ten other people and would voice his opinion on how to solve the problems of the world. When others didn’t agree with him, he would stand his ground and then laughed about it later.
Noel Dean was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will cherish the many wonderful memories.
