Nola Mae Fye (Seymour)'s Obituary
Early Friday morning, November 23, 2012 Nola Mae Fye departed this world from Heart of the Ozarks Nursing Home in Ava, Missouri, at the age of seventy-seven years and six months. She was born May 23, 1935 in Pine River, Minnesota to George and Estella Fye second to the youngest of thirteen children; four girls and nine boys.
The family moved to the Seymour area when Nola was young and she attended the Davis School until the eighth grade. A true country girl, Nola loved to work the family farm. She lived and breathed the farm life. She enjoyed the summers where she shared the country life with her city boy nephew, Junior. After her parents passed, Nola took over the family farm until her health began to fail. She found favor working with her hands and gave unconditional love, caring for the livestock. Nola had a quiet spirit, eager to share a smile, and had a charming way. She enjoyed the simple things of life. Her neighbors knew she would be there to help them and shared in their joys as well as their trials.
Over the years as Nola moved to several of the local nursing homes, she made friends there that carry on to this day. Nola was more than a patient; she was a friend and made you feel like a part of her family.
She is preceded in death by her loving parents, three sisters, and eight brothers.
Nola is survived by her brother James Fye and his wife Mary Ann of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family, neighbors and friends.
Although Nola never married or had children of her own, she was a wonderful mother hen; she loved her animals, her family and her friends; caring for them like any good mother would. “Nolie”, a true Ozark country girl leaves behind a legacy of hard work, true affection for the land, a fierce protection of those she loved and treasured moments of a life well lived. We celebrate Nola Mae Fye, her life and accomplishments; and will remember her in our hearts forever.
