Nola Rose's Obituary
Nola Mavis Rose, age 95 of Bolivar, MO passed away at 2:00 AM Monday, February 16, 2009 at her home after a lingering illness. She was born on August 4, 1913 near Bonne Terre, Mo the daughter of Forrest Bunch and Jesse (Skaggs) Bunch. She attended school in North Allen and worked for a short time in the shirt factory at Bonne Terre. On January 17, 1935 she was united in marriage to Lloyd C. Rose at the age of 22. Lloyd was 25 and he moved with his parents to another town and she remained at home with her parents. This was during the depression and they thought that if they did not marry then, that they may not see each other again. Lloyd and Nola had four children, Jerry, Pat, Lloyd and Karen. During our childhood we often heard that when some old busybody in town told Nola's father that they had gotten married, her father told her You Call Red and tell him to come live here with us. They stayed in Bonne Terre where there eldest child Jerry was born. They then moved to Michigan looking for work. There second child Pat was born there. They returned to St. Louis, MO where their third and fourth child, Lloyd and Karen were born. The family resided in several different cities and states, including Bonne Terre, MO; Cadillac, MI; St. Louis and Maplewood, MO; where they bought their first home, Des Peres, MO; Houston, TX; Corona, CA ; Springfield, Nixa and Bolivar, MO. Nola remained in the home after they returned to Missouri, staying as a housewife and mother. Nola lost her loving husband Lloyd on May 17, 2003. She was the last surviving sibling of Forrest and Jesse Bunch. She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters, Dorothy, Myrtle, Florence, Marjorie and 2 brothers, James and Otto, and one grandson Matt. Nola was an avid seamstress, she loved knitting, crocheting, ceramics and other crafts. She loved her husband and children unconditionally and she loved her extended family as well. She is survived by her 4children, Jerry and wife Peggy, Pat and husband Russ, Lloyd and wife Connie, Karen and husband Jim. 5 grandsons and families. Dennis and Pam Rose, Scott and Lori Rose. Brian and Stephanie Hawkins, Jeff and Deb Hawkins and Michael Rose. 10 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Several step grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren. Nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. in the Butler Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jack Smothers officiating. Musical selections will be Amazing Grace, How Great Thou Art, and Precious Memories. Casketbearers will be Greg Robbs, Dennis Rose, Scott Rose, Kevin Mountain, Steve Kuykendall, and Steve Laske. Burial will be in the Crestview Memorial Gardens Cemetery east of Bolivar under the care and direction of the Butler Funeral Home of Bolivar.
