Norma Jeane Emmert (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Norma Jeane Emmert passed away on Friday, December 19, 2014 at her home in Bolivar, Missouri, surrounded by her family after a lingering illness.
Born January 31, 1935 in Bolivar, Missouri, the only child of Charles Washington May and Ollie Batrice Martin May, Jeane was 79 years, 10 months and 19 days of age.
On November 14, 1958, she eloped with Glen Doran Emmert of Morrisville to Miami, Oklahoma. They were married 46 years when Doran died in 2005.
In 1967, they adopted an infant daughter, Shelley Ann, and an infant son, Scott Glen joined the family in 1972. Together Shelley and Scott gave them six grandchildren.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Bolivar since April 1949, and a charter member of the Laureate Delta Nu Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority.
Jeane’s professional career included work for the Paul Mueller Co. in Springfield, Attorney Dick Collins in Bolivar and Judge Ted Scott in Buffalo. She also owned a tax preparation service that operated in her home for over 30 years.
Jeane enjoyed playing Dominoes with friends, monthly silo events and luncheons, as well as relishing any opportunity to visit with friends and family.
Survivors include daughter, Shelly Greer, and husband Jay; son, Scott, and wife Katheryn ‘Kat”; six grandchildren, Charlie Ann, Lauren Lee, Kasey Jo, Diawa Lee, Brandon Scott, and Hailey Lynn; three great-grandsons, William, Gatlin, and Ryder, all of Bolivar; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Howard and May Emmert, of Aldrich, and many cousins and friends.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Doran, or the Michael J. Fox Foundation (for Parkinson’s Research), Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777 New York, NY 10163-4777
