Norma Hazlewood's Obituary
Norma Dajoya Hazlewood was born June 8, 1952, in the Philippines, and departed this life February 16, 2005, in Olongapo City, Philippines. She gave birth to her first child, Christopher Dajoya Hazlewood, on January 12, 1975, and married Robert M. Hazlewood on September 20, 1975. Her second child, Robert Roger Hazlewood, was born on August 9, 1976. She was preceded in death by her father, Dios Dado Dajoya. Norma is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher D. and Terrilynn Hazlewood, and Robert R. and Heather Hazelwood, all of Lebanon, Missouri; two granddaughters, Kailyn Paige and Brooklynn Sue Hazlewood, both of Lebanon, Missouri; her mother, of the Philippines; and four brothers and three sisters, all of the Philippines. She was born, raised and married in the Philippines and then moved to the United States when her husband was transferred to the Treasure Island Naval Base in San Francisco, California. The family moved to Lebanon, Missouri in 1977, where the children were raised. With only a sixth grade education, Norma started her very own business in 1981, Norma’s Clothing and Gifts. The business would thrive for over twenty years. In 1996, she opened another business, Miquel’s Restaurant and Catering, which she operated until she was forced to retire due to health problems in 2000. Norma was diagnosed with Thrombotic Thombocytopenic Porpura, a rare blood condition that has no cure. During her over twenty years in business, she was a great supporter of sports and community events, such as Little League, Babe Ruth Baseball, the Babe Ruth World Series, Lebanon High School, Laclede County Vo-Tech, the Laclede County Fair, Lebanon Area Women’s Expo, the Freedom of the Road Riders, and many others. Norma was a family oriented person and loved to meet her customers. Over the years, she made a tremendous amount of friends and acquaintances that she treated like family. She was very kind hearted and was willing to help others in need. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and had nothing but good intentions for her family. She was strong willed and was always a dreamer. She believed that to make your mark in life all you need is a dream; and the hard work will get you there. Norma D. Hazlewood was well loved and will be greatly missed by those who knew her personally and professionally. We feel sorry for those that never had the privilege to know her. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2007, in the Mount Rose Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. Entombment will be in the Mount Rose Memorial Park Mausoleum. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
