Norma Joan Petary (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Norma Joan Petary, daughter of Roy L. and Martha R. Fite Rose, was born April 17, 1935, in Ottumwa, Iowa. She departed this life Thursday, April 23, 2020, in Lake Regional Hospital, in Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years, and six days.
On December 4, 1951, she was united in marriage to Franklin Lysander Petary, and to this union three daughters and three sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Franklin, on January 1, 2004; a son, Charles Petary; a grandson, Franklin Jones; a brother, Charles; and three sisters, Betty, Nancy, and Kay.
Norma is survived by three daughters, Machieal Shelby, and her husband, Roger, Tina Cox, all of Lebanon, Missouri, and Tammy Wingfield, and her husband, Dave, of the State of Colorado; two sons, Robin Petary, and Mike Petary, both of Lebanon, Missouri; sixteen grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren; a sister, Marion Konobeck, of Clinton, Iowa; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in Iowa and then moved to Arizona. Once she and Franklin were married, they made their home in Arizona and lovingly raised their children and Norma was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family. In 1992, she and Frank moved to Lebanon, Missouri, and made their retirement home.
In her spare time she enjoyed gardening and particularly growing beautiful roses. She liked doing word search puzzles and reading. She enjoyed baking and canning and taking her granddaughters shopping. She centered her life around her family and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Norma was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
Family funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 28 at 2 p.m. at Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Burial will follow in Crossroads Cemetery. Friends may call at their convenience.
Friends are encouraged to come by the funeral home to sign the memorial book, and/or leave condolences on our website for the family.
